Miku is pleading to be let out of Hell and God is responding, saying that she has to stay. Something I noticed when looking at the lyrics is that it is set up like a conversation between Miku and God. An important line is "To atone for sins that have been committed is an impossible request", I think that this line is a setup for the next song. I think she must also feel that the things she could not help are why she is there, because she refers to "sins committed" the keyword is sins because it is plural and not singular, so she must fell that she did something other than commit suicide. I don't really have a solid reasoning for why she was sent to Hell when she died, but my best guess is because she committed suicide. In Red Swamp Bottom, Miku is now in Hell. Let me know if you have come up with anything I've missed. I know I missed a lot of the symbolism, but I couldn't figure some of it out. The body falling refers to Miku's decent into hell and sets up the stage for the next song. The "left neck" refers to the left wrist, and it is red because that is where she cut off her hand. The pledge on the left hand freezing most likely refers to how she has grown to hate her husband, and so she cuts it off. She probably married him specifically to escape the circus, so she does not love him. In the story, Miku has left the Dark Woods Circus and gotten married. I came to this conclusion because throughout the story, young Meiko is touring the circus and is captured by the ringmaster.īlue Ice Castle Is a bit more difficult to understand because it has a lot of symbolism that you would have to look for to notice. I think that, at one point, the ringmaster(Meiko) was one of the children in the circus.

Miku most likely has lost her virginity as well as her sight due to the line "rotten fruit, to dissolve my eyes". when she goes and sees all of the cast, Miku is now blind from acid and wants to die, the twins are faking happiness to keep from being punished(although Len has excessive flowers on his face), and I don't think Kaito cares either way what happens as long as he gets fed. In the song, the twins draw in young Meiko, who is curious about the circus. In DWC, the characters are referred to as the deformed diva, one with two heads, and the blue beast. A lacy flower pattern was used as a symbol for the acid burns. In the pleasure tents, the children would be punished with acid if they did not behave. This is where the children from the asylum ended up. People would pay to look through little holes in the tents at deformed children, they would often pay to see the children raped or beaten. It is about "Pleasure Tents" or "child circuses" that were popular in these time periods in japan. You also hear the Dark Woods Circus music, so we know that this is where Miku loses all hope.Miku also now has the legs of a horse.ĭark Woods Circus is the main part of the series. At the end of the song, you see Miku wake up with the others around her. It is most likely that Kaito's brain has been replaced with that of a dog. Rin and Len have been sewn together as one body with two heads and Kaito, whom Miku refers to as Pochi, is now a cannibal. She thinks that the children that are taken away are happy, but this is not the case. In the song, Miku is very impatient for it to be her turn. Each night, one child is taken from their cell to be experimented on. During these times, mental patients were often experimented on in the name of "science", this is what happens to Miku, Rin, Len, and Kaito in Wide Knowledge of the Late, Madness. This story most likely takes place in the Edo period or after WWI, I will get to that reasoning later.

This is where it gets creepy, in Wide Knowledge of the Late, Madness. Miku does eventually get out of the cell, but only to be taken to a mental asylum. The lyrics say that she wants to be rescued, so I think that she was just locked up for so long that she lost her mind. I have heard people say that Miku went insane trying to escape, but I know that this is not the case because the lyrics say nothing about her trying to escape. In Steel Queen, Caged Princess, Miku has been imprisoned by an Evil queen. The songs go in this order: Steel Queen, Caged Princess Wide Knowledge of the Late, Madness Dark Woods Circus Blue Ice Caste Red Swamp Bottom Guard and Scythe.
